Abu Dhabi: The UAE is the fourth best country in the world to live and work. The UAE has risen 10 places to its current level. The UAE currently ranks fourth behind Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand.
This information is contained in HSBC’s 14th Annual Expat Explorer Study. The survey included 20,000 people living and working abroad. Eighty-two percent of those surveyed are optimistic that their lives will be more normal and stable over the next 12 months.
It is noteworthy that such a response was received during the time of the global epidemic. In addition, 53 percent expect an increase in their income and a better life-and-employment balance. Even globally, it averages 35 percent, compared to 53 percent in the UAE.
From the Gulf countries, Bahrain and Qatar are ranked eighth and tenth respectively. Increased income, career growth and improved living standards are the major factors attracting expatriates to the UAE. It is the standard of living in the UAE that drives expatriates to stay in the UAE longer. Eighty-six percent said living standards in the UAE were better than in their own country.
Only 11 per cent said their plans to stay in the UAE had to be changed due to the epidemic. In the UAE, 80 percent said their children are able to interact with different cultures and live with an open mind.
