“The wages of all the workers were raised by 8 million, won → 5 million won again.” Where is the big company?” – The Economy Herald

[헤럴드경제= 박영훈기자] “We raise the whole thing too”

While many companies are freezing or slightly raising salaries due to the economic recession, game companies are raising their salaries one after another, drawing attention. Following Nexon, Smilegate is also raising annual salaries this year to a level similar to Nexon.

Smilegate is a company famous for its first person shooter (FPS) ‘Cross Fire’, which has achieved cumulative sales of 12 trillion won worldwide. Kwon Hyuk-bin, the founder of Smilegate and Chief Executive Officer (CVO) of Smilegate Holdings, has a net worth of 9 trillion won, making him one of the 10 richest people in Korea.

According to the game industry on the 25th, Smilegate labor and management decided to raise the base salary of executives and employees by 8%. As a result, the average salary per person increases by about 5 million won. There may be differences in the amount of the increase depending on the evaluation of individual personnel, but the minimum guaranteed increase rate for employees who have received a mid-level evaluation is also 5%.

Before this, Smart Gate raised the basic salary of its workers by 8 million won. This is the smallest increase, and some who raised more than 10 million have been known to actually win.

Cash wellness points will be topped up by 300,000 earned this year and next year, and holiday bonuses will also be topped up by 200,000 earned. Smilegate currently pays an additional 100,000 earned per year of service to the base wellness point of 2 million earned. As a result, the basic welfare points will be increased to a maximum of 2.3 million earned over two years.

It is known that although all companies have started to tighten control due to the economic recession, the company expressed its ‘big’ stance during the salary negotiation process that it would give an annual salary increase rate that was the same as in the years previous

Before this, Nexon raised the average base salary per employee by about 5 million won. Overtime pay was also increased by 16% compared to last year, and welfare benefits were increased further. When Nexon raised wages significantly, it seems that Smilegate also raised them no less than Nexon to boost employee morale.

Previously, Nexon also raised the salary of all employees by 8 million won, which became a hot topic. Starting from this, all companies raised wages competitively, and the average wage of workers in the IT and game industries rose significantly.

Meanwhile, following Nexon and Smilegate, game company Webzen also raised their base salary by an average of 8%, and NCsoft is known to be in the 6% range.
