The funds were allocated through a public call, and intended for the arrangement of business zones. With 100,000 KM each, the government supported the development of infrastructure in the municipalities of Tešanj (PZ “Bukva-Vila”), Maglaj (PZ “Liješnica”) and Olovo (PZ “Golubište-Pilana”) and the town of Visoko (PZ “Ozrakovići”), the town of Zavidović was allocated is 90,042.55 KM (PZ “Ekonomija-Batvice”), Žepče Municipality 98,815.75 KM (PZ “Radovlje”), Doboj Jug Municipality 74,888.90 KM (PZ “Mravići”) while Kakanj Municipality was allocated 36,252.75 KM (PZ “Carousel”).
Necessary help
Prime Minister Amra Mehmedić emphasized that business infrastructure is very important for attracting new investments and creating new jobs. These, he adds, are projects that require significant funds, which is why it is very important that all levels of government provide the necessary financial assistance to local self-government units “where life takes place and most of the problems faced by citizens are solved.”
“There is a constant message that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the ZDK, want new jobs, and there are no new jobs without a good business infrastructure, so the ZDK Government will remain committed to allocating significant funds for these purposes,” said the Prime Minister of the ZDK.
Record incentives
This year, the Ministry of Economy allocated a record 8.2 million KM for strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises and the construction of business zones, of which 3.6 million KM is intended for business zones. The responsible minister, Samir Šibonjić, states that this canton has more than 20 business zones, and that the Government is determined to continue creating the best possible conditions for the work of economic entities.
“ZDK is a pillar of BiH’s economy, and the Government and the relevant ministry will do everything to make the work, growth and development of our companies in industrial zones easier. Our goal is to place as many investors as possible in industrial zones, so that the development of the economy will be as fast as possible,” Šibonjić said.
Investments required
The head of Tešanj Municipality, Suad Huskić, emphasized that business infrastructure is very important for the development of every local community and that this municipality invests significant funds in these purposes. Together with the Government of ZDK, they pooled funds that will be invested in the development of road infrastructure in the Business Zone “Bukva-Vila”, and new investments in business infrastructure are also planned.
“The business zone that we opened 3-4 years ago is already 30 percent full and more than 15 business entities are working in it. We have a need for further investment and I hereby appeal to FBiH and ZDK and other local communities to increase allocations for investments in the business zone in order to be competitive for new investments and for the creation of new jobs,” said Huskić.
Lighting in Kakanj
The Municipality of Kakanj has also been investing in business infrastructure for years, and for the past ten years the center of economic activity has been the PZ “Vrtlište”. At the public invitation of the line ministry, they applied for a public lighting construction project in the mentioned zone.
“We will use the funds for this purpose, considering that we have solved the other communal infrastructure, roads, water and sewage. There is still lighting left in order to somehow improve the working conditions and encourage other businessmen to work even harder in the economy and to open new companies in our Kakanj”, said Bajtarević.
