One year and six months in the Corona era, the house is changing. ‘Zipkok’ was a prolonged life, and the activities that were done outside came into the house one by one. Now, the house is transforming not only into offices for working from home, but also into cafes, wine bars, fitness centers, movie theaters, galleries, PC rooms, and hotels. The new term’layered home’ was created, where several functions were gathered together.
The living and furniture industry is leading this lifestyle change. At the’Seoul Living Design Fair’ held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul from the 28th to the 30th, there were so many visitors that there was a long waiting line every day. This is a phenomenon that supports industry analysis that people who were interested only in the external elements of the house, such as house prices, station areas, and apartment brands, are now starting to find meaning in the interior space.
Lee Young-hye, CEO of Design House, who co-hosted the event, said, “We prepared this year with the concept of’when the space changes, life changes.’ I put the image in the exhibition.”
“Everyday happiness as a way to communicate with things”
The first place that catches visitors’ footsteps is the’space with crafts’ prepared by Yun Hyeon Sang-jae, an imported tile specialist. It is an exhibition where art and life design coexist, and various crafts were presented on the subject of garden, tea, liquor, garden, and blank space. On the wall there is a written phrase, “We present an exhibition with an architectural sense of dignity”. The sense of prestige refers to the cozy feeling that occurs when you are surrounded by walls or trees. An official from Hyun Sang-jae Yoon explained, “In the untouched (non-face-to-face) era, we expressed how to find little happiness in everyday life through a method of communicating with other people or objects.”
Graduate student Park Ye-seul (28, Seodaemun-gu), who met at the exhibition hall, said, “I think the experience of making tea using tea and pouring wine into a crude glass is the best healing that can be done at home.” “It seems to be a true resting function when a house is filled with elements of nature such as trees, soil, and stones, rather than electrical and electronic products such as computers.”
CEO Kim Hyo-jin of Densk, who imports Nordic furniture and lighting, showed an example of a’layered home’ with a space of about 16 square meters (5 pyeong) filled with mint color for both walls and furniture. At first glance, this space, like a living room or a dining room, serves not only for relaxation, but also for work and meals. CEO Kim explained, “I wanted to show true inner healing in my space, expressing that various appearances and functions are possible in one space.”
Gallery, LP bar, PC room, bonfire that entered the house
This year, the participation of the gallery was outstanding. This is because the number of young generations who purchase art to decorate their homes like art galleries has increased rapidly. An official from Seoul Auction said, “It is important to create a culture where more people can enjoy art works. “We want to break the fine line between life design and life design.”
There are furniture that please the ears as well as the eyes. It is a turntable and LP cabinet of RawBrown where you can enjoy music at home even if you don’t go to the LP (Long-Playing record) bar where you can listen to the old record board.
A’home PC room’ has also appeared for gamers who cannot visit the PC room for a long time due to the prohibition of gathering orders. It is DESKER’s gaming desk that allows you to concentrate on the game for a long time with an ergonomic design.
The’bulmung’, which was enjoyed only in camping grounds, became possible inside the house. It is an indoor fireplace from the Japanese fireplace brand Eco Smart Fire. It is safe and eco-friendly by using bioethanol obtained from vegetable raw materials such as corn and sugar cane as fuel.
“Trend Korea 2021” co-author Lee Hyang-eun, a professor of service design at Sungshin Women’s University, said, “The characteristics of MZ generation (millennials and generation Z) proud of social network service (SNS) by making a house ideal It is progressing rapidly,” he said. “The Corona 19 incident has made the role of the house three-dimensional, and this phenomenon is expected to be strengthened even in the post-corona era.”
