A police investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.

The poor construction situation of Hyundai Industrial Development is being revealed one after another.

When concrete is poured, supports called dongbari must be tightly installed to withstand the load.

It turned out that this copper bar was not installed.

Correspondent Woo Jong-hoon reported.

The collapsed top of the Hyundai I’Park apartment in Gwangju.

Unconsolidated concrete is visible as if pouring was in full swing right before the collapse, and the space that would have been used as a living room and a room if it had not collapsed is hollowed out, revealing only the ceiling and floor.

The work on the day of the accident took place on the top floor, the 39th floor.

When pouring concrete, in order to withstand the weight, ‘dongbari’, which is usually a support to withstand the load up to two or three floors below, must be built, but the dongbari is not visible at the site.

The lower floor, and the lower floor, is also empty.

“Make Dongbari more comfortable. I should have looked at these things thoroughly with a hawk’s eye, but I think it’s a scene that doesn’t come true at all.”

There is another situation of poor construction.

Concrete pouring on the 35th floor of the collapsed apartment was done on November 23, last year.

Then, floor work on the 36th, 37th and 38th floors and the 39th floor were carried out on the 11th, when the accident occurred, and as a result of checking the work log secured by the Gwangju City Council and the construction union, the floors were raised one floor at a time in just 6 or 7 days.

Experts point out that a curing period of 2-3 weeks is required given the cold weather, but this has not been observed.

“You have to endure it for two to three weeks, but since you raise one floor a week, practically, the layers below it won’t show any strength.”

Hyundai Development Company previously explained that it had undergone a sufficient curing period for 12 to 18 days, but it turned out to be false.

And today, “there was no problem with the strength of the concrete, so the copper rod was removed,” he explained.
