The interior of an apartment of about 2.2 pyeong in Midtown Manhattan, New York, famous for the world’s expensive housing prices, attracts attention.

On the 14th, space exploration YouTuber Caleb Simpson posted on his YouTube channel a six-minute video introducing the apartment, saying, “Let’s take a look around the smallest apartment in New York, the size of a parking space.” The video is attracting attention as it recorded around 2.22 million views as of 1 pm on the 22nd.

The house of Alina Landajo, the protagonist of the video, has a kitchen as soon as you open the front door, and the kitchen is full of household items including a television. There is also a small sofa that can be used as a bed opposite the TV. Simpson tried push-ups on the floor and said, “It’s too small to even exercise in this house.”

The two story flat was accessed by a ladder in one corner to the upstairs bedroom. The horse is a bedroom, but it only has one mattress. The distance from the ceiling is so close that you can hit your head if you get up in a hurry.

Due to the limited space, toilets and showers are shared in the building. Landajo said, “I keep my toiletries in the shared shower room,” and “I’m close to my neighbors, so I only get dressed after I shower,” he showed no concern.

The monthly rent for this apartment, which seems difficult to park even one car, is 650 dollars, which is about 910,000 Korean Won. Landajo said he was satisfied with the location of the apartment.

Netizens said, “It’s absolutely impossible to live there because of claustrophobia”, “People won’t realize how cheap a $650 a month house is in Midtown Manhattan”, and “high grade prison”.

Meanwhile, according to US real estate rental information company Zumper, the median monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan, New York, reached $4195 (about 5.9 million won) in July. This is an increase of 42% on the previous year.
