Yang Hyun-suk, former CEO of YG Entertainment, who was handed over to trial on charges of trying to frustrate the drug investigation of former iKON member B.I (Kim Han-bin, 25), denied the allegations.

On the 13th, the 23rd Criminal Settlement Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Yoo Young-geun) held the first trial preparation date for former CEO Yang, who was charged with violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (threat of retaliation, etc.). On the preparation date, the defendant was not obligated to attend, so Yang and others did not appear.

In August 2016, Yang Hyun-suk, a former singer trainee, was arrested for drug use and was being investigated by the police.

Regarding this, Yang’s lawyer said, “I deny all the charges,” and “It is true that I met and talked to Mr. A, but I have never threatened or forced him to make a false statement.” When asked by the court whether he would like a participatory trial, Yang replied, “I don’t want it.”

The court accepted this and decided to hold one more trial preparatory date to hear a clear objection after classifying the evidence on the defendant’s side. Yang’s second trial preparation date will be held at 11 am on the 17th of next month.
