The journalist Roman Camacho published a complaint about alleged non-payments by an engineer to hardware stores and enterprises related to the construction of the criticized Cacique Guaicaipuro that was carried out on the Francisco Fajardo highway, renamed by the government in honor of the indigenous man, although, in general, the population continues to call the road with its old name.
«Speaking of corruption linked to PDVSA: a group of people with hardware stores and enterprises denounced the engineer Juan Rodríguez, for not paying the materials, tools and labor for the realization (construction) of the giant Cacique Guaicaipuro on the highway. Currently, engineer Rodríguez has filed a complaint with the Public Ministry, but the process has been paralyzed because the judicial system mysteriously interrupted the process carried out by the prosecutor’s office,” he said. And he added that Rodríguez used his company Construcciones Leirol CA, to acquire the materials and told those affected that it was a government work, that he was deputy minister and that when he had the resources he would pay them.

And he mentioned José Torrealba, one of those affected, who was part of the work carried out on the highway and the Cacique and who was in charge of supervising the murals and sculpture. He denounced that they have not yet been paid and that the work is made with cheap materials.
“Another problem is that the anchorage of Cacique Guaicaipuro’s right arm was not the one that should have been used, but they put a weaker one and the engineer was aware of it,” Torrealba denounced, quoted by Camacho.
The journalist indicated that another irregularity has to do with the welding used.

Those affected denounced the engineer in the prosecutor’s office, but the case has not yet progressed despite the willingness of the Public Ministry to investigate, “he explained.
And he went on to point out that the work on the highway (murals, reliefs and the Cacique Guaicaipuro) was awarded by PDVSA to the company Servicios y Construcciones Lormar 77 CA, its president being Alexander “Mimou” Vargas (government deputy), who In turn, he hired his friend and partner, the engineer Juan Rodríguez with his company Servicios y Construcciones Leirol CA
“Deputy Vargas supported Rodríguez during his candidacy for the PSUV primaries as mayor of Guanipa since they were friends and have done several businesses together,” he added.
He explained that both are part of the so-called movement for Peace and Life led by Vargas.
“The budget for the murals, cacique and paintings was 2.1 million dollars and of that amount 1.19 million was only for the iron Cacique Guaicaipuro,” he said.
And he concluded: “The complainants hope that they will comply with the payments that they are owed and that they investigate whether the resources of the work were allocated in their entirety for the project, since they speak that the Cacique had a cost of 300,000 dollars and still has not they pay those who supplied the materials, machinery, lights, paints and those who worked on it”.
