RAB-2 and RAB-6 arrested 7 people of the group who spread the video by cutting their wrists from Bagerhat and Mohammadpur area of the capital from yesterday Friday to this Saturday morning.
Those arrested by RAB are Ahmed Khan (22), Md. Hassan aka Guti Hassan (24), Md. Hanif Hossain Joy (24), Ramzan (23), Md. Raju (19), Md. Rafidul Islam Rana alias Rafat (23) and Tushar Howladar (23). At that time, domestic sharp weapons were seized from them.
In a press conference organized at the RAB media center in the capital’s Karwan Bazar, Commander Khandaker Al Moin, the director of RAB’s law and media wing, said that recently the members of this group shot and spread the video of cutting the wrists of several people, including a young man named Arman, in the capital’s Mohammadpur.
Khandaker Al Moin said that various types of terrorist activities including robbery and extortion of members of several terrorist groups can be observed in Mohammadpur area of the capital. Several general diaries and cases have been registered in various police stations of the capital on the charges of attack and robbery by these terrorists. The tendency of terrorists from different groups to dominate each other, one group clashing with another group and causing injuries with sharp weapons can also be observed. They recorded a video of cutting the wrists of a young man named Armaan in Mohammadpur of the capital. Later it went viral on Twitter. In this incident, on August 27, Arman filed a case of attempted murder (No-152) at Mohammad police station in the capital.
Citing the interrogation of the accused, the RAB official said that the accused are members of a terrorist group in Mohammadpur and surrounding areas of the capital. Their group has about 15-20 members. They were committing various crimes in the area for the past 4-5 years under the leadership of Rafat, Tushar and Anwar.
According to RAB, due to previous enmity, the accused Tushar severed Arman’s left hand with a chapati and severed his wrist and Rafat almost severed Arman’s right hand with a sharp chapati. Even before this, they brutally attacked with sharp weapons and severed different parts of the body for the purpose of dominating the area, extorting, robbing. Later, they used to record videos of these atrocities and spread them through social media.
In response to the question of whether the law and order forces will take action on the presence of youth gangs and terrorist forces in Mohammadpur, Adabar and Mirpur areas ahead of the elections, Khandaker Al Moin said that in 2017, RAB first discovered youth gang culture. We have taken various steps. Even after taking steps many people are not moving away from these activities. 11 hundred members involved in youth gang culture have been brought under the ambit. Legal action will be taken against youth gangs across Bangladesh and those involved in it.
