Wellington: The video of New Zealand captain Kane Williamson holding the trophy like a hero, which would have fallen in the wind, has gone viral. The incident happened when Indian captain Hardik Pandya and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson were posing for a photo with the winner’s trophy of the T20 series. India will play three T20Is and an ODI against the Kiwis from the 18th to the 30th of this month. The first Twenty20 match will be played in Wellington on Friday.
While the captains of the two teams were standing with the trophy, the wind blew unexpectedly. The table on which the trophy was placed then shook and Williamson quickly caught the trophy as it fell to the floor. In the video, Williamson can be seen laughing and saying, ‘It’s a trophy for me’. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is also laughing. Reports are also coming out that rain could play a role in the game.
For the first time since 2020, India is playing a series in New Zealand. India won all five Twenty20 matches played that day. However, the team faced a major setback in ODIs and Tests. The hosts were defeated in all three ODIs and the two Test matches played. The rest of the Twenty20 game is on the 20th and 22nd of this month. ODIs are on 25th, 27th and 30th.
India’s first pre-series training session is over. Players including Sanju Samson came out for training. The Indian team trained for three hours. BCCI shared his pictures on social media. In the absence of head coach Rahul Dravid, National Cricket Academy chief VVS Mae Laxman is coaching India.
