This is how Russian state media use Baerbock’s statement

A statement in the Council of Europe brought Foreign Minister Baerbock a lot of criticism. Kremlin propagandists gratefully accept their sentence.

Several Russian state media have picked up on Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s controversial statement on the “war against Russia” to stir up anti-West sentiment. As reported by ZDF, the Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov exploited Baerbock’s statement as a starting point for a tirade of nasty, sometimes sexist insults. “They are fighting a war against Russia,” Solovyov said on his talk show. “The foreign minister of the Fourth Reich has declared war on Russia.”

“Berlin will be destroyed if Germany supplies weapons to the Ukrainian Nazis,” Solovyov declared on Tuesday’s broadcast. “These are the consequences of political decisions.” The Kremlin-loyal journalist Alexander Sosnowsky also called for Dresden to be bombed.

On Tuesday at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, Baerbock called for the cohesion of the western allies with the following words: “We are fighting a war against Russia and not against each other.” The federal government then emphasized that Germany was not a party to the war in Ukraine.

CSU General Secretary: Baerbock is a “security risk”

Baerbock’s statement was also sharply criticized in Germany. Bundestag member Klaus Ernst (left) wrote on Twitter: “Our self-proclaimed international law expert says we are at war with Russia.” The question arises whether Germany is already a party to the war.

CSU General Secretary Martin Huber said: “Annalena Baerbock is a massive security risk for our country.” Anyone who talks about German participation in the war is talking Germany into a war. The head of the CSU state group in the Bundestag, Alexander Dobrindt, demanded in the “Welt am Sonntag” that Baerbock should urgently “correct” her statement personally. “That is a serious misjudgment for a foreign minister. We are not waging war against Russia, we support Ukraine’s right to self-defense against Putin’s war of aggression,” he said.

AfD co-boss Tino Chrupalla called for Baerbock’s dismissal. “The Federal Foreign Minister is jeopardizing Germany’s existence with her unprofessional and cheeky behavior,” he said, according to a statement. There was also harsh criticism of Baerbock and her statements on social networks.
