Melbourne: Australia is preparing for a memorial service for cricket legend Shane Warne. The ceremony will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Vaughan, one of Australia’s all – time greats, dies on March 4.

Vaughan took 700 wickets in Test cricket 16 years ago at the Melbourne Ground. The memorial service will be held at the same venue. It has also been decided to name the Southern Stand at Melbourne Stadium after Shane Warne. That too will happen today.

The duration of the ceremony is two hours. Fifty thousand people will have access to the stadium. Prominent figures from the Australian sports, political and cultural circles will attend the event. Warne’s sons Brooke, Jackson and Summer will also be present at the ceremony.

Vaughn’s body was cremated on March 20. Only close family and friends attended the funeral.

Following this, it was decided to hold a memorial service. Vaughn died of a heart attack at the Koh Samui Island resort in Thailand. Warne’s departure came as a shock to the cricketing world.
