Team Kim (Gangneung City Hall), the women’s national curling team, made it to the final of the World Championship for the first time in Korean curling history, writing a new record once again in Korean curling history.

Gangneung City Hall Women’s Curling Team ‘Team Kim (Skip Kim Eun-jung, lead Kim Seon-young, second Kim Cho-hee, third Kim Kyung-ae, candidate Kim Young-mi)’, led by coach Im Im-seop, competed in the semifinals of the 2022 Women’s World Curling Championships held in Prince George, Canada on the 27th (Korean time). Team Einason won 9-6. Tim Kim is the first Korean curling team to advance to the finals of the World Championships in both men’s and women’s quads and mixed duos.

Team Kim secured more than a silver medal by advancing to the final on that day, surpassing the previous best record set by ‘Team Minji (Chuncheon City Hall)’, proving once again that they are the strongest in women’s curling. The previous best record at the World Championships in Korean curling was the bronze medal set by ‘Team Minji’ in 2019. Tim Kim’s previous best record at the World Championships was fifth place at the 2018 event.

In this match, Tim Kim’s ‘calm’ and ‘teamwork’ shined once again. Tim Kim took a slight lead 4-3 until the 6th end, but faced a crisis by conceding 3 runs in the 7th end. However, Tim Kim did not lose his composure and immediately caught up with two points to balance the game.

Tim Kim, who tied the score at 6-6, stole one point in the ninth end (scoring from the first end) and turned the game over again. Canada, who started with a second shot, scored two or more points in the 10th end to come back, but it was blocked by Tim Kim’s captain Kim Eun-jung’s calm draw shot. Thanks to Kim Eun-jung’s sensuous draw shot, Tim Kim stole two points in the 10th end and ran 9-6 to secure the finals.

Team Kim, who reached the final, will face off against Team Tirinzoni of Switzerland at 8 am on the 28th for the championship. Switzerland, who advanced to the semifinals with 12 consecutive wins in the qualifying round, advanced to the final by defeating Swedish team Hasselborg 7-5 in the semifinals. Tim Kim, who lost 5-8 to Switzerland in the preliminary round, is once again looking for lust in the final. Seunghwan Jeong
