Controversy has arisen when pastors from the church ordained as a group pray for the laying on of hands to former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who visited the funeral home of the late Rev. Cho Yong-gi.
According to the religious circles, on the 15th, former President Yoon visited the funeral home of Pastor Cho on the first floor of Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul and paid condolences.
After the funeral, I met Lee Young-hoon, senior pastor of Yoido Full Gospel Church, Kim Sam-hwan, senior pastor of Myeongseong Church, Oh Jeong-hyeon, senior pastor of Sarangui Church, Kim Jang-hwan, Chairman of Far East Broadcasting, and Oh Jeong-ho, senior pastor of Daejeon Saeronam Church.
At this meeting, Pastor Janghwan Kim said to former President Yoon, “You must believe in God.” Former President Yoon nodded his head, and Pastor Kim suddenly asked Pastor Jeong-ho Oh to pray for him.
The prayer took place while the pastors around us laid their hands on former President Yoon.
In the representative prayer, Pastor Oh said, “I want Candidate Yoon to become a family of faith.” He said, “Give us grace so that liberal democracy can be maintained in Korea, and as a presidential candidate, you have given us wisdom and understanding to be used preciously for the Korean church. We ask the Lord to be with us so that we can renew the history of the nation.”
“Please awaken the wisdom of Solomon to win the hearts of the people,” he added.
After the fact of the laying on of hands was revealed, controversy arose all over the internet.
Those who criticize the act of ordination prayer have voiced voices such as “It will destroy all the shame of the Korean church” and “It seems that those who privatize the church are claiming power in advance.”
On the other hand, contradictory responses such as “It is a good thing that I received the prayer of laying on hands by influential spiritual leaders in the religious world” and “I hope your prayers reach heaven.”
