Sometimes, legislators seek contributions. When the State, Adam Gray (D-Merced) asked the drink beverage association to sponsor the annual meeting of the National Congress of State Legislatures, the association gave $ 25,000 in its name. Gray, who represented California for the meeting, said he was responsible for securing sponsors, and asked some corporations to contribute.
