As of 9pm last night, there were 11,804 new cases of COVID-19.

Although the number of people decreased by 600 from the same time on the 26th, it is still well over 10,000.

If you add up the number of additional cases by midnight, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced today is expected to exceed 14,000.

The number of new confirmed cases surpassed 10,000 for the first time on the 25th, and the number is in the 10,000 range for three days in a row.

“It is expected that this rate of increase will be maintained for a while. And the period of increase will be 5 to 8 weeks…”

If there is a large movement from the metropolitan area to the non-metropolitan area this weekend during the Lunar New Year holidays, the spread of Omicron is expected to accelerate nationwide.

As the number of confirmed cases surged, the number of home-treated patients also exceeded 42,000.

We are already approaching the limit of response, accounting for 74% of the 58,000 people that can be afforded through managed medical institutions.

The government plans to increase management capacity by simplifying the monitoring of at-home caregivers as there are many asymptomatic and mild patients due to the nature of Omicron.

“We are working hard to build a system that not only expands home treatment medical institutions to expand their capabilities, but can also link treatment with local hospitals and clinics.”

At the same time, the government has announced that it will manage the Omicron epidemic without further strengthening social distancing.

Despite the rapid increase in the number of confirmed cases, it is judged that it is possible to respond with the current distance as the number of patients in critical condition is in the range of 300 and the hospital bed utilization rate is 18.3%.
