Tomás Bravo Case: Supreme Court revokes reform and voids charges against great-uncle

The Supreme Court accepted what was presented by the Public Criminal Defender regarding the fact that the period of 24 months of investigation exceeded the established maximum.

The Supreme Court revoked the reform of Jorge Escobar Escobar, the only defendant for the death of Tomás Bravo.

With this, the highest court dismissed the actions of the Public Ministry, which charged Tomás Bravo’s great-uncle with charges of abandonment of a minor resulting in death.

This, after until last March 10 the Prosecutor’s Office had him accused of the crime of qualified homicide.

As reported by Radio Biobío, the Supreme Court accepted what was presented by the Public Criminal Defender regarding the fact that the period of 24 months of investigation exceeded the established maximum.

Given this, it annulled the accusation made by the prosecutor Marcela Cartagena, since the term to propose a reformation expired on March 2, for which reason the actions of the Prosecutor’s Office were rendered ineffective.
