[시사포커스 / 이근우 기자] If Tottenham Hotspur failed to sign Alessandro Bastoni (23, Inter Milan), there was a possibility that they would switch to Kim Min-jae (26, Fenerbahce SK).
British media ‘Express’ reported on the 9th (Korean time), “If Tottenham fails to sign Bastoni, it can be an alternative to Kim Min-jae. “Manager Antonio Conte wants to sign a centre-back in the transfer window this summer, and if Bastoni stays, other options will be available.”
Tottenham, who finished fourth in the English Premier League in the 2021-2022 season, will advance to the UEFA Champions League next season. Coach Conte wants to reinforce all positions this summer, including center back, who is the key to defense.
Tottenham, who previously signed Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, have been linked with Bastoni of the same club as the next player. Bastoni recorded one goal and three assists in 31 matches as a regular center back for Inter Milan last season, and won the Serie A title under coach Conte in the 2020-2021 season.
Inquiries for Bastoni were made by Tottenham and Manchester United, but there is a possibility that he will remain at Inter Milan. According to British media ‘The Mirror’, Bastoni’s agent Tulito Tinti has stated that he will remain at Inter Milan next season while retaining Bastoni’s contract.
Meanwhile, coach Conte is known to have put Kim Min-jae on the candidate list, and if Bastoni actually stays at Inter Milan, Kim Min-jae is highly likely to be signed in this summer’s transfer window.
