Trafficking in Cannabis; 4 people were arrested including SI and his son

Aluva ∙ 4 more persons including SI grade and his son were arrested in ganja smuggling case. Perumbavoor SI Grade Ezhipram Urumath Sajan (56), son of Naveen (21), Vengola Olikkal and T John (22) and Basil Thomas (22) of Vattakkattupadi Eicharamatukandam were arrested by the Aluva police.

Rajinikanth Malik, Chakdol Pradhan and Sharmanand Pradhan, natives of Odisha’s Kandamal, who brought ganja, were arrested earlier.

After the incident, Naveen, the prime accused, entered Abu Dhabi and was taken into custody after being strategically brought to the Kochi International Airport. Naveen was accused in 4 ganja cases registered by the police and a house in Perumbavoor. Sajan’s father was arrested for protecting his son and facilitating his entry abroad.

Sergeant will retire from service on May 30. Anse and Basil were arrested for providing shelter and vehicles to the cannabis gang. Vehicles, mobile phones and cash were recovered from them.

After rural SP Vivek Kumar’s intervention, an investigation into the ganjau case, which was limited to 3 guest workers, led to the arrest of Grade SI and his son. The court remanded the accused.
