The dog apology controversy was also a major issue in the one-on-one debate with the People’s Power presidential candidates that was held a while ago.
Candidate Seung-min Yoo asked if there was any sincerity in the apology in the first place, and candidate Yoon apologized, saying that he did not know that he had uploaded the photo, but that he was ultimately responsible.

The one-on-one discussion between Candidate Seok-Yeol Yoon and Candidate Seung-Min Yoo was heated from the start, asking about the circumstances of the photo of the ‘dog apple’ in question.

“I saw a really absurd picture this morning. It’s this picture. Who took this picture?”

“I heard it’s not our house. It’s probably my wife who took the dog along. I heard the camp staff filmed it…”
Candidate Seung-min Yoo apologized for defending Chun Doo-hwan and attacked how he could upload a photo like this just a few hours later, and Candidate Yoon apologized, saying he did not know.

“(Apologizes) 10 hours later, Instagram posts a picture like this, completely treating the people as a dog.”

“It’s all my fault for not being able to take care of it at a time when people can think like this. I apologize to the people for that…”
When Candidate Yoo denounced whether the apology itself was sincere in the first place, Candidate Yoon claimed that Candidate Yoo had also spoken in support of Chun Doo-hwan.

“When you go to Busan, you say this, and when you go to Gwangju, you hold the 5/18 tombstone and take a picture that makes you cry… Isn’t this the kind of remark that uses local emotions?”

“Thanks to that, we lived well in the 80’s, and this is something everyone agrees on regardless of left or right,” he said.

“I never said that. (No)”
A war of words continued over the opponent’s economic policy.

“The nuclear phase out was very similar to Moon Jae-in’s promise.”

“So, replace all the people in the camp. Replace all the stupid people in the camp. Income-led growth, nuclear-free, I’ve never said anything like this.”
Candidates Hong Jun-pyo and Won Hee-ryong had a discussion in a relatively calm atmosphere.

“Whether we share this nuclear weapon with President Biden or deploy tactical nuclear weapons (we will negotiate)”
[원희룡 후보 / 국민의힘 대선 경선후보]
“There is no such thing as absolute (in terms of security),” he said.
The People’s Power will select the final candidate after going through four more discussions.
