It was found that during the upcoming Chuseok holiday, there are twice as many cases of preparing pocket money for parents as opposed to gifts.
KB Kookmin Card announced on the 21st that these results were obtained from a survey conducted on 420 customer panels for Chuseok on their schedule and gift preparation during the golden holiday.
91% of respondents plan to prepare pocket money or gifts for Chuseok. Among them, 78% of respondents said they would prepare pocket money (cash, gift certificates), which was almost twice as high as gifts (43%).
Although more men (82%) than women (75%) prepared pocket money, more women (45%) said they would prepare gifts. Based on age, the proportion of people in their 50s and 60s who had pocket money in mind was the highest.
In addition, 59% of respondents answered that they would prepare cash (withdraw money) within a week of the start of the holiday. The day before the holiday was chosen more (31%) than the holiday period (10%).
In terms of the amount of pocket money, the majority (74%) responded that they would provide pocket money worth 100,000 to 300,000 won per parent. 7% of customers chose less than 100,000 won, 15% chose less than 300,000 to 500,000 won, and 4% chose more than 500,000 won.
The gifts to prepare for Chuseok were food (77%), cosmetics (12%), and clothes and miscellaneous goods (10%).
The number of people who responded that they planned to visit the homes of family and relatives during the holidays was huge at 64%, and the number of people who said they would go on a trip was also high at 23%. Of the 284 people (68%) who responded that they would prepare holiday food, 80% said they would buy food sold commercially.
The types of food to buy were pancakes (58%), rice cakes (51%), meat (22%), vegetables (13%), drinks such as sikhye (12%), and fish (10%).
