Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, is being investigated by U.S. authorities for money laundering and other charges.
According to a Bloomberg news report on the 13th local time, the U.S. Department of Justice and the IRS were accused of money laundering and tax violations, and began securing information against people familiar with Binance’s affairs.
Binance is the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange established by Chinese Canadian Zhao Changfeng in 2017 and is currently based in San Francisco, USA.
Binance spokeswoman Jessica Jung made a statement: “We take our legal obligations very seriously, and we will work with the authorities and legal authorities in an attitude to cooperate.”
The German Financial Supervisory Service is also investigating allegations of violating regulations by issuing so-called’stock tokens’ linked to Tesla and Coinbase on the 28th of last month by Binance.
