U.S. calls for emergency UN Security Council meeting to discuss North Korean missiles

(New York = Yonhap News) Correspondent Kang Gun-taek = The US government requested the UN Security Council on the 9th (local time) to hold an emergency meeting on the 11th to discuss the North Korean issue, including the ballistic missile launch, AFP News reported this.

The request to convene the meeting came after North Korea launched a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) on the weekend, the news agency reported.

The United States is concerned that North Korea will resume nuclear tests in the coming weeks, as well as ballistic missile tests.

The United States is chairing the Security Council this month.
