The U.S. Department of Commerce pointed out on Thursday (21st) that companies including Intel and other companies have indicated that they will voluntarily submit information about chip shortages and decide whether to enforce them based on the number of replies finally received. In this regard, the foundry leader TSMC (2330) -TW) said today (22) that relevant materials will be submitted before the deadline of November 8.

The US Department of Commerce said on Thursday that Intel, General Motors, Infineon, SK Hynix and other companies have indicated that they will provide data within the deadline and encourage other companies to follow up. As for whether to use compulsory measures, it depends on how many companies respond and the quality of the information provided.

TSMC responded that it has been actively cooperating with all stakeholders for a long time and providing support to overcome the challenges of global semiconductor supply.

When asked earlier that the US Department of Commerce expects companies to provide data independently, TSMC’s chief legal officer responded that it is still in the evaluation stage, but will never disclose sensitive information, especially confidential customer information, and related inquiries can still be anonymous.
