[Washington, 25th Reuters]–The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced on the 25th that Russia’s security software giant Kaspersky, China Telecom America, and China Mobile International USA have addressed national security. Added to the list of communication equipment and service providers considered as a threat.

Last year, the FCC recognized five Chinese companies, including Huawei and ZTE, as security threats based on a law enacted in 2019 to protect the US telecommunications network. Kaspersky is now the first Russian company to be on the list.

U.S. officials had removed Kaspersky Lab’s flagship product from the federal network in 2017. The company expressed disappointment with the decision, saying it was “unfounded and in response to the geopolitical situation.”

The Chinese embassy in Washington has accused the FCC of “maliciously attacking Chinese carriers again.”
