UAE Federal Tax Authority stops using e-Dirham from 30

This decision is part of First Abu Dhabi Bank’s launch of Magnati, a smart payment option

ABU DHABI: As part of the introduction of Magnati by First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), a smart payment option, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has announced that it will stop using the e-dirham system for payment taxes of 30.

The move is in line with the Ministry of Finance’s decision to stop using the e-Dirham system for government payments and to replace the payment of fees for services to government entities using other approved payment options.

The authority said the decision was in response to suggestions from UAE consumers and considered the requirements in an effort to provide a user-friendly, flexible and efficient payment experience.

Magnati provides advanced software solutions for online payments using next generation advanced technologies to provide seamless and efficient payment service to FTA customers.

The authority explained that the Magnati Smart Payment feature allows registrants to pay their tax obligations through the Magnati FAB platform. Taxpayers can make any payment through FTA using credit cards.

The authority said the electronic tax payment platform available through the e-sevana portal on the FTA website provides several other payment options to its customers. These maintain high security, ease of use and speed.

One of these options is to pay using a Generated International Bank Account Number (GIBAN). It is issued by FTA to all tax registrants and allows taxpayers to make direct transfers from their bank accounts to the authority.

This system is used to transfer money from various financial institutions in the UAE and abroad. It can also be used to pay value added tax (VAT), excise duty and other tax liabilities.
