Ubisoft may plan to make a 2D side-scrolling version of Prince of Persia#rumor(164084)-Cool3c

When the classic adventure game series “Prince of Persia” was transferred to Ubisoft in 2003, and “Prince of Persia: Sands of Time” was released, this series gradually became one of Ubisoft’s most iconic works in the early 2000s. And launched three works one after another. Soon after, Ubisoft released an “Assassin’s Creed” in 2007 that was originally intended as an extension of the “Prince of Persia” series, but what I did not expect is that this work has extended the developer so far. The longest-lived series, as for “Prince of Persia”, gradually disappeared in the torrent.

Although the “Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remaster”, which has undergone several postponements, is still under development, many fans are still looking forward to the launch of an authentic new work in this series. According to the latest news, Ubisoft seems to be planning a new classic horizontal 2D style “Prince of Persia”.

The plan is still in its infancy, but it does have this idea

On the recent The XboxEra Podcast show, XboxEra co-founder Shpeshal Nick revealed that Ubisoft is currently developing a new 2D version of “Prince of Persia”. However, according to the source from which he obtained this information, the plan for this new work is still at a fairly early stage, and many details and directions may change at any time.

The focus of this project is that Ubisoft has some interest in the potential behind the 2D version of “Prince of Persia” presented in a modern system. This project may eventually become a transplant or remake of the early works of “Prince of Persia”, a rumor, or even a brand new sequel. According to Shpeshal Nick, the only thing that can be confirmed at this stage is that Ubisoft has indeed tried the concept of the 2D version of the “Prince of Persia” series. As for whether it is actually in an active plan, it is still unknown.

Ubisoft’s excellent 2D lineup brings unlimited potential to this rumor

It is worth mentioning that Ubisoft has indeed created many highly acclaimed 2D side-scrolling games through the UbiArt Framework engine in recent years, whether it is “Laser Superman”, “Heroic Heart: The Great War” and “Children of Light”, etc. It shows the style and gameplay that a classic version of “Prince of Persia” may bring. If Ubisoft really wants to bring this series back to its roots, it definitely has a lot of potential.

Unfortunately, the “Prince of Persia” series has not launched any authentic sequel since 2010’s “Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands”. As for the latest confirmed plan of the series, only “Prince of Persia” “: Sands of Time” is just a remake version. This work was originally expected to be available at the end of 2020, but it was postponed due to the quality dispute when the trailer was released. In June of this year, Ubisoft announced again that the release time of this work will continue to be postponed until 2022. As for whether Ubisoft will launch a new 2D version of “Prince of Persia”, it seems that we can only wait for follow-up news.
