UEFA President Responds To Pep, Klopp Over Fixture Complaints

UEFA President Alexander Seferin has responded to criticism from Premier League coaches Pep Guardiola and Jഗrgen Klopp that football matches and tournaments are rampant in Europe and that it affects players. He says the less games he plays, the less money he gets and the less ready the clubs are.

Pep Guardiola and Jഗrgen Klopp came out against last season’s football calendar. They also asked if money was more important than the well-being of the players. In response, Seferin asked why England needed to host two domestic cup tournaments (the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup).

“FIFA and UEFA are always easy to attack, but things are very simple. If you play just a few matches, the money will go down.” Ceferin said while speaking to the media.

“Factory workers who receive only a thousand euros a month can complain. Everyone wants more cup matches. No one is prepared to miss anything. Clubs need ten matches in the Champions League group stage. They get eight, that’s the right number.”

“Eighteen clubs in domestic leagues are enough, but the president of no league will ever approve of that. They need to understand that two domestic cup tournaments are too many.” Ceferin clarified.
