Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , , and other sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, it was down 0.92%.
The best performers of the session were CENTRICA (LON: ), which rose 4.58% or 3.66 points to trade at 83.54 at the close. Meanwhile, NatWest Group PLC (LON: ) added 3.03% or 6.70 points to end at 228.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON: ) added 2.81% or 59.00 points to end at 2,162.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Glencore (LON: ), which lost 6.89% or 33.25 points to trade at 449.35. Antofagasta PLC (LON: ) lost 6.43% or 85.50 points to end at 1,244.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings plc (LON: ) lost 5.20% or 4.72 points to 86.11 at the close.
On the London Stock Exchange, 1,237 stocks fell, outnumbering gainers by 637, while 383 stocks were unchanged and unchanged.
Gold futures August options contracts fell 0.02% or 0.45 points to hit $1,838.35. In the rest of the futures, the price of the August delivery WTI crude oil futures contract fell 3.60% (3.94 points) to $105.58, while the August London Brent crude oil futures contract fell 3.31% (3.79) to trade at $110.86.
GBP/USD was unchanged at 0.06% at 1.23, while EUR/GBP was up 0.61% at 0.86.
U.S. dollar index futures were down 0.27% at 103.93.
