[キ-ウ 23日 ロイター] – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that it would be “better” for Chinese and Ukrainian representatives to hold a meeting, adding that the Ukrainian government had already communicated such intentions. But he said he was not aware of any plans to end China’s alleged war.

Asked about a possible meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping during a press conference with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who is visiting Kyiv, Zelensky said: “I would like to meet with China. It now serves the interests of Ukraine,” he said.

“The sooner this happens, the more countries, including those with great influence, are considering how to end the war while respecting Ukraine’s sovereignty,” he said.

He said he had received only “general” information through Ukrainian diplomats about the proposals allegedly being drawn up by China, but said he was encouraged that China was considering brokering peace.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Chinese diplomat Wang Yi, who visited Russia the day before. Pointing out that China-Russia relations have reached a “new frontier,” he expressed his hopes for President Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia.

Xi is scheduled to deliver a “peace speech” on the 24th, a year after the all-out invasion by Russia began. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week, citing sources, that Xi is preparing to visit Russia in the coming months to meet Putin.
