Ukraine: “Russians bombard Chernivu all night… There was no reduction in military activity.”

Although Russia claimed to have halted military activities at Cherniche, it was confirmed that shelling was still continuing.

According to AFP news agency, Mayor Viacheslav Chaus Chernivu said on social media on the 30th (local time) that “the city was bombarded all night,” and “the situation has not changed.”

He added that civilian infrastructure was destroyed by Russian bombardment and airstrikes overnight the night before.

Earlier, the Russian delegation met with the Ukrainian side in Turkey for the fifth round of talks and promised to reduce military activity near Kiiu and Chernivu, but this was not kept.

Mayor Viacheslav said the advance of Russian troops at the end of last week meant that a withdrawal from the area was eventually impossible.

He also said that about 350 people have been killed in the city alone since the Russian invasion began, and only 120,000 of its 280,000 citizens remain in the area.

Mayor Viacheslav complained of pain, saying, “There is no longer water, electricity, and communication in this city, and it is in a situation that cannot be restored.”
