Ukraine’s ammunition needs are the focus of talks between defense officials of 50 countries

KIEV – US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will host virtual talks from the Pentagon, after several previous meetings of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine were held in Germany.

“As we have done since the beginning of the war, we continue to do everything in our power to meet the needs of Ukraine, whether it is ammunition, air defense, armored vehicles,” a Pentagon spokesman said Pet Ryder.

US, EU and NATO officials have pledged to step up efforts to replenish Ukraine’s ammunition stocks, as well as their own.

“We are constantly reviewing the supply of ammunition and weapons,” said the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky after a meeting with Ukrainian military leaders.

Zelensky said the main focus is to defend the eastern front line, including the Bakhmut area where fierce fighting has been going on for months.

He said that the clear position of the Ukrainian military leaders is that “they strengthen this direction, to cause maximum possible damage to the occupier”.
