Ukrainian Military Claims Successful Missile Attack on Russian Black Sea Fleet Headquarters in Crimea

Ukrainian Military Claims Successful Strike on Russian Black Sea Fleet Headquarters

Ukrainian military authorities have announced a successful missile strike on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet near Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula. Andriy Yusov, spokesperson for the General Intelligence Service, an intelligence agency under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, confirmed the attack, stating that it targeted the military base of the invading forces that currently occupy the Ukrainian territory of the Peninsula Khmer.

The National Resistance Center, led by Ukrainian special forces, supported the claim, reporting that the main headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet was the intended target of the attack and that it was indeed successful.

The Mayor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razbozaev, however, supported by the Russian government, presented conflicting claims, asserting that the missile attack on the area had failed.

The significance of this attack cannot be overlooked. It comes at a time when tensions between Ukraine and Russia run high, particularly in light of the 2014 forcible annexation of the Crimean Peninsula by Russia. President Vladimir Putin has hailed this annexation as one of his greatest achievements, making the successful strike on the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters all the more notable.

Last month, Ukraine launched an attack on the Krum Bridge connecting mainland Russia and the Crimean Peninsula. Furthermore, on the 13th, it targeted a Russian shipyard in Sevastopol with a missile, resulting in the destruction of submarines and other advanced weaponry.

Ukrainian military authorities claimed they succeeded in hitting the Russian Black Sea Fleet headquarters located near Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula.

Andriy Yusov, a spokesman for the General Intelligence Service, an intelligence agency under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said, “A missile attack has been launched against the military base of the invading forces that have temporarily taken control of the Ukrainian territory of the Peninsula Khmer.”

The National Resistance Center, which is run by Ukrainian special forces, also said that the target was the main headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and that the attack was successful.

On the other hand, the Mayor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razbozaev, with the support of the Russian government, presented conflicting claims, saying that the missile attack targeting the area had failed.

The Krum Peninsula was forcibly annexed by Russia in 2014, and this attack is considered a meaningful one as Putin has referred to the annexation of the Krum Peninsula as his greatest achievement.

Ukraine attacked the Krum Bridge connecting mainland Russia and the Crimean Peninsula last month, and on the 13th, attacked a Russian shipyard in Sevastopol with a missile, destroying submarines and other advanced weapons.
