Ukrainian President Zelensky says the West is creating a sense of crisis

[이데일리 안혜신 기자] Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged the West to stop creating a sense of crisis.

According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and other major foreign media on the 28th (local time), Ukrainian President Zelensky said at a press conference held in the capital Kiev, “The biggest threat to us right now is the unstable domestic situation.” You are talking as if you were today.”

In particular, President Zelensky expressed strong dissatisfaction with the recent withdrawal of staff from the Ukrainian embassy by the United States and Britain. He said, “The diplomat is the captain,” and expressed his strong dissatisfaction, saying, “I have to leave the sinking ship last, but Ukraine is not a ‘Titanic.’ I do not feel a greater threat compared to when I was deployed,” he said.

But the US position is different. US President Joe Biden has claimed that Russia could invade Ukraine next month. The Pentagon also pointed out that the deployment of the Russian military is much larger than last spring. Ukraine responded by saying ‘do not create insecurity’ to the US claim.

The western allies, too, are taking different stances on the differing views. Germany is somewhat reserved. There is no plan to evacuate the embassy in Ukraine, and they believe that Russia is not yet ready to invade Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russia has concentrated its military forces in Belarus, which borders northern Ukraine, and has deployed 12 Panzyr-S surface-to-air missile systems there.
