[Frankfurt19thReuters]-North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the war in Ukraine could last for years. He also pointed out that providing state-of-the-art weapons to the Ukrainian army would increase the chances of releasing the eastern Donbas region from Russian control.

“We need to be prepared for years of war, and we must not diminish our support for Ukraine,” he told the German newspaper Built Sunday.

At the NATO summit in Madrid on the 15th, Mr. Stoltenberg announced that he would agree on support measures to replace Ukrainian equipment from the ones of the former Soviet Union era to the NATO standard ones.

Russian troops aimed to conquer Kieu, the capital of Ukraine, in March, but failed. Since then, it has concentrated its forces on the eastern Donpas region.
