Unexpected change in Indian team ahead of Delhi Test; Pacer is out

Delhi: Team India dropped pacer Jaidev Unadkat from the squad ahead of the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test. This decision was taken by the team management and the senior selection committee who were considering the Ranji Trophy final. The player will return to Kolkata for the Ranji final. The Saurashtra team comprising Unadcutt will face Bengal in the Ranji Trophy final. The Saurashtra-Bengal Ranji final will be played from February 16 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Jaydev Unadkat was included in the squad for the first two Tests against the Aussies. He did not play in the first Test at Nagpur. Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj played as pacers. Senior all-rounder Umesh Yadav is also in the squad. Unadcutt is likely to return to the squad when the squad for the final two Tests is announced after the second match in Delhi. This is because the star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is not in the squad. Unadkat returned to the Indian team after the tour of Bangladesh after a good performance in domestic cricket. In the Ranji Trophy in January, the player took a hat-trick in the first over of the innings. This was in Susantra’s match against Delhi.

Revised Indian Test Squad for First Two Matches: Rohit Sharma (captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav.
