Actor Jung Woo-sung, who is a goodwill ambassador for the UNHCR and has always expressed his beliefs about refugees, donated 100 million won for emergency relief in Afghanistan.

Jung Woo-sung said, “I hope that it will be a small contribution not only to the many Afghans who have lost their homes and are living in a dark time due to the recent incident, but also to the UNHCR, which is working for them.”
He also emphasized, “It is a time for the global village to pay attention to the Afghan crisis.” He also emphasized, “We must listen to the urgency of those who cannot even escape from their country despite being in various dangers and tragic situations.”

According to the UN Refugee Agency, more than 590,000 internally displaced people have been displaced this year alone due to the recent incidents in Afghanistan, including the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, and 18 million people, nearly half of the population, are in need of emergency assistance to survive.
Jung Woo-sung started as an honorary ambassador to the UNHCR in 2014 and has been working as a goodwill ambassador since the following year. Not only did he visit major refugee countries such as Lebanon, South Sudan, and Rohingya, but when the Yemeni refugee issue in Jeju emerged, he said, “The idea of restricting the entry of refugees through a visa means that it is difficult for refugees to go to any country and ask for help. It is a method that is implied.”
