Former India Under-19 World Cup captain Unmukt Chand has become the first Indian male player to play in the Big Bash League. Unmukt, who immigrated to the United States after failing to perform well in India, had a stellar performance in the recently concluded Minor League T20 cricket tournament. Unmukt was the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 612 runs. It was after this performance that Unmukt was invited to the Big Bash League. (unmukt chand big bash)

Unmukt Aaron Finch, 28, has signed a contract with captain Melbourne Renegades. Sean Marsh, Muhammad Nabi, James Pattinson and Kane Richardson are also Renegades players. The Big Bash League starts tomorrow. The Melbourne Renegades’ first match is on the seventh day. Their opponents are the Adelaide Strikers.

Unmukt was once known as the future promise of the Indian team. Unmukt led the team to victory in the 2012 Under-19 World Cup after a consistent performance in domestic competitions. The cricketing world has high hopes for Unmukt, who scored a stunning century against Australia in the final. The player with copybook shots and excellent timing was a spokesman for Stylish Play. The best performances in the World Cup brought Unmukt to the IPL. Although he played for Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, he never failed to impress. Unmukt soon lost a series of domestic matches as well. He moved to Uttarakhand from Delhi last season but did poorly there too. Unmukt finally retired from Indian cricket last August and returned to the United States. There, the player who led the Silicon Valley Strikers made them champions.
