US punishes Burmese arms dealers for facilitating military purchase deals

Reuters – The United States has imposed sanctions on a Burmese arms dealer and his companies. o facilitating contracts and purchasing weapons on behalf of the Burmese Army. The US Treasury Department said

The case against Kyaw Min Oo and his company Sky Aviator comes with new sanctions from the EU. It comes on the second anniversary of Myanmar’s last general election in 2020, which was boycotted by a coup in February.

“Ky Min Oo has benefited from the violence and suffering the army has inflicted on the Burmese since the coup. Treasury Department Confirms US Commitment to continually increase pressure on the junta and their supporters. Until they changed course and returned to democracy,” said the Treasury Secretary for Financial Intelligence.

Kyaw Min Oo has close ties to the Burmese Army and has served as an intermediary in arranging visits to Myanmar by high-ranking foreign military officials. Sky Aviator has facilitated arms deals on behalf of the Burmese Army. including the import of aircraft parts said the statement from the Ministry of Finance.
