US punishes Iran’s customs police… “Responsible for death of woman not wearing hijab”

The US government has punished Iranian police and officials over the death of an Iranian woman who died of a suspicious death while under investigation for not wearing her hijab properly.

The US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control announced on the 22nd local time that it would put Iran’s customs police on the sanctions list based on abuse and violence against Iranian women and violating the rights of Iranians in peaceful protests. .

The Foreign Assets Control Office pointed out that the customs police were responsible for the death of a 22-year-old woman, Mahsa Amini, who died on the 16th after being arrested and detained for not wearing a hijab.

He also approved seven leaders of Iran’s security authorities, including the customs police, the Ministry of Information Security, and related military units.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said: “Mahsa Amini was a brave woman and her death is yet another atrocity inflicted by the Iranian regime’s security forces on its own people. We call for an end to the violence against people and a violent stop to freedom of expression and society.”

The assets of individuals and organizations designated as sanctions targets by the Office of Foreign Assets Control will be frozen in the United States, and Americans may no longer do business with them.

In addition, if individuals and organizations from third countries use the US financial network to transact with them, they will be subject to third party sanctions.
