Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirth Singh Rawat has apologized for the ‘ripped jeans’ controversy. Rawat said he would apologize if his remarks offended anyone.
But he was not ready to change his opinion about torn jeans. There is nothing wrong with wearing jeans. But he reiterated that he was not interested in wearing ripped jeans.
The Chief Minister was referring to the message given to the society by wearing ripped ripped jeans among the younger generation.
The reference to the Chief Minister’s jeans was made during a function organized by the Uttarakhand Child Rights Commission. During the flight to the Child Rights Commission event, two women arrived on a plane with torn jeans and a child. They said they were members of an NGO working for children. What message do such people send to society? The CM said that they were cutting the culture, not the jeans, with scissors.
The protest was strong at the mention of the Chief Minister. Protests erupted on social media and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi took the stage. Jeans made waves on Twitter when the statement came out. Congress leader Sanjay Jai started the protest by painting a picture of Kiria’s jeans. Later, actress Gul Panang, Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi and former Miss India Simran Kaur Mundi all joined the protest.
