Valtteri Bottas from Alfa Romeo F1 “I didn’t notice Andretti’s interest during the negotiations”[F1-Gate .com]

Valtteri Bottas said he was unaware that Andretti was interested in the rumored acquisition of Sauber when he was negotiating to join Alfa Romeo F1.

It has been revealed in recent weeks that Andretti is pursuing the acquisition of Sauber to take over the operation of Alfa Romeo F1, which is understood to be progressing ahead of this weekend’s F1 US Grand Prix.

Valtteri Bottas will leave Mercedes for the rest of the season and join the Alfa Romeo F1 in 2022. At that point, the team could become a new ownership of Andretti Autosport.

Valtteri Bottas signed a deal with Alfa Romeo F1 in September, but said there were no signs that Sauber’s ownership could change at that time.

“I didn’t notice it during the negotiations,” said Valtteri Bottas.

“Honestly, I don’t know the details about whether that is likely to happen.”

“But I’m sure the decision makers know what’s best for the team in the long run.”

“And I don’t say much about who owns the team and what percentage they own. That’s the business side of F1.”

Earlier, Valtteri Bottas talked about Alfa Romeo’s future plans as a key factor behind his decision to agree on a multi-year contract with a Swiss-based team.

When asked if he would welcome the opportunity to work with Andretti, Valtteri Bottas commented, “Is there any reason why it’s not good?”

“Of course, as a driver of the future team, I want to know a little more about their future plans before that, but yeah, why not?”
