(Video) Semiconductor Day… Lee Jung-bae, President of Samsung Electronics, Gold Tower Medal

The ’14th Semiconductor Day’ ceremony was held at COEX in Seoul this morning to inform the public of the achievements and status of the nation’s main industry, the semiconductor industry.

Semiconductor Day was established to commemorate October 1994, when Korea’s semiconductor exports exceeded $10 billion annually for the first time.

In his congratulatory speech, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Moon Seung-wook expressed his gratitude for the hard work of the semiconductor industry, which plays a role as a strong pillar of the Korean economy, and emphasized the need for organic public-private cooperation in response to the global supply chain reorganization movement. He also reaffirmed his plan to build the world’s best semiconductor supply chain by more actively supporting private investment in the future, while evaluating that the government’s ‘K-semiconductor belt construction’ is rapidly being realized.

At the event, awards were given to those who contributed to the development of the semiconductor industry.

Samsung Electronics President Lee Jung-bae, who contributed to the development and mass production of the world’s best mobile and server DRAM, received the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit, the highest honor, and Myung-bae Choi, CEO of YIK, who led the localization of memory test equipment for the first time in Korea, received the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit.
