Hyderabad: Virat Kohli’s Test captaincy vacated Kohli’s successor was Rohit Sharma in T20 and ODIs. But in the Tests, KL Rahul’s name has the upper hand. Rohit’s constant injury and old age are considered as a barrier to making him a Test team captain.
But if Rohit Sharma is the number one batsman in all three formats, then what is the impediment to making Rohit the captain in Tests as well? If you look at the hero for the next five or six years, Rohit is less likely. But making an inexperienced hero a hero can cause even bigger problems. Therefore, it is appropriate to make Rohit the captain for the time being.
Rohit is a great player. As well as the excellent captain. Rohit will continue to play for the next two or three years. Maybe play longer than that. The main challenge for Rohit will be to maintain fitness. This is because Rohit regularly suffers from thigh injuries.
The absence of Rohit in the ODI series gives South Africa the upper hand. Because Rohit is an aggressive player. “In my experience and experience as a captain, Rohit should be made the captain of the Test team,” Azhar said.
