Virginia connects to most teams in the NCAA competition

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) – Virginia, Texas, and New York tied to the size of the Division I basketball programs that lead the Big Dance.

Virginia joined the other two states who are launching five teams from their state to the Madness contest in March.

The University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth, Liberty and Old Dominion earned their way to the competition. This is the biggest team that made the bracket since 2011.

UVa is a number one seed for the fourth time in the last six years.

Virginia Tech takes number four, VCU is eight, Liberty is 12, and Old Dominion is 14 years old.
