The long awaited death of his daughter did not dampen the fighting spirit of Vishnu Solanki Baroda (Baroda Cricket Team). Vishnu Solanki, who returned to the competition within days of attending the funeral of his daughter, who succumbed to her injuries shortly after birth, paid tribute to her son by scoring a century in the Ranji Trophy match against Baroda vs Chandigarh. Solanki survived one of the biggest crises of her life by scoring a century against Chandigarh at the Vikash Cricket Ground in Bhubaneswar.

Batting first, Chandigarh chased down Baroda’s 168 in the first innings for Solanki’s century. He scored 104 off 165 balls with 12 fours. Solanki’s century helped Baroda to a huge score against Chandigarh. Baroda, who scored 517 in 132.2 overs, also took a huge first-innings lead of 349 runs.

The news of Solanki’s death reached her while she was preparing for the match against Chandigarh in Bhubaneswar. With this, Solanki returned to his hometown of Vadodara and attended the funeral of the child. But he returned three days later to play Ranji for Baroda.

Saurashtra’s Sheldon Jackson and Baroda Cricket Association CEO Shishir Hattangadi tweeted about Solanki’s extraordinary courage.
