Vitamin E is not only anti-aging, it has 4 major effects! 2 Tips to Supplement Correctly | Nutrition | Skin Care | Antioxidant

We all know that vitamin E is an essential nutrient for the human body. But what many people don’t know is that the benefits of vitamin E to the body may be beyond our imagination. Of course, the premise is that we have to supplement it correctly.

The human body is undergoing oxidation reactions all the time. In this process, cells will produce an unstable factor called “free radicals.”

Free radicals are an oxidant and a “double-edged sword” in the body. It can not only help the body fight disease, but also destroy our cells.

Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant. It can maintain the balance of free radicals and brings many benefits:

1. Anti-cancer

Excessive free radicals are the culprit for many kinds of cancers. Because free radicals can attack the genetic material of human cells, make cells mutate and transform into cancer cells.

Vitamin E has the ability to extinguish free radicals, which can reduce the latter’s attack on cells, thereby reducing the chance of cancer cell formation.

2. Clean blood vessels and improve blood clots

If the vitamin E in the body is not enough, then the low-density lipoprotein will absorb free radicals. In this process, fat and protein will be oxidized, forming “foam” and attaching to the blood vessel wall.

This is like dirt in a water pipe. After a certain degree of accumulation over time, it will easily block blood vessels and form blood clots. If the blood clot occurs in the coronary arteries that flow to the heart, it will cause coronary heart disease; if it is in the brain, then a stroke will occur.

After understanding this process, it is not difficult for us to understand that adequate vitamin E can help prevent heart disease and stroke.

3. Delay aging

Whether in the human body or in nature, oxidation is the culprit of “corruption”, such as the deterioration of food and the rust of metals. Too many free radicals in the human body will also aggravate the oxidation reaction.

As we age, our body’s ability to eliminate excess free radicals will become weaker, so cells will be more and more damaged by free radicals.

If free radicals corrode the various components of the eyes, then it is easy to cause senile vision disorders, such as vertigo, cataracts and so on.

Free radicals can also promote the production of “lipofuscin” in the body. If this substance accumulates in the skin, it will form an elderly class; if it accumulates in brain cells, it will easily lead to memory decline and even Alzheimer’s.

Because many aging problems are caused by free radicals, vitamin E, which can fight free radicals, is even more important. The anti-aging effect of vitamin E is also reflected in observation experiments. In an experiment conducted in the 1950s at the University of California, Davis, it was found that in a petri dish supplemented with vitamin E, the life time of human cells was significantly prolonged, and some cells even gained more than twice the life.

4. Keep skin youthful

An intuitive manifestation of the anti-aging effect of vitamin E is the care of the skin. Because wrinkles and stains on the skin are all related to the attack of free radicals on cells. The damage of ultraviolet rays to the skin is largely because it stimulates the production of free radicals. Therefore, adequate vitamin E nutrition helps to keep the skin smooth.

Many skin care products now contain vitamin E. But it should be noted that it is best not to rub oral vitamin E capsules directly on the face. Because the capsules contain oils and other substances, it is easy to make the face excess oil, thereby clogging the pores. For a few people, the substance in the capsule may even cause allergies.

However, if your skin is particularly dry, then a little vitamin E oil is also fine.

To make vitamin E work, you have to avoid doing these things

Since vitamin E has so many benefits, so as long as we take vitamin E supplements, we must live longer than others and less likely to develop cancer?

This is not the case, because the number of free radicals in the body is not only affected by antioxidants such as vitamin E, but also closely related to our living environment and habits. All kinds of abnormal stimuli can easily cause the body to produce excessive free radicals. Common adverse stimuli include:

● Inhale contaminated air and smoke;
● Poor eating habits, including alcohol abuse and eating oily and salty foods;
● Excessive ultraviolet radiation;
● Stay up late often;
● Excessive mental stress, including irritability, anxiety, and nervousness;
● Ingestion of chemical substances, including food additives, pesticides, and toxic metal elements;
● Exposure to radiation, including mobile phones, computers, microwave ovens, and X-rays;
● Excessive exercise.

If we are often in a bad environment or living habits, then the number of free radicals will swell uncontrollably. Even if vitamin E is added at this time, it is likely to be a drop in the bucket, which is of little significance.

If you can quit smoking and drinking, let go of your worries, and focus on a balanced diet, then supplementation with vitamin E measures can play the role of icing on the cake.

How to properly supplement vitamin E?

Although vitamin E has various benefits, it is a pity that modern food processing technology often consumes a large amount of natural vitamin E in food. Therefore, if we want to fully absorb this kind of nutrition, we may need to choose suitable vitamin E supplements, or intentionally add some vitamin E-rich foods to our daily meals.

1. Eat foods rich in vitamin E

Vitamin E, as a common nutrient, is widely present in vegetable oils, nuts, melon seeds, fruits and vegetables. Among them, the Harvard School of Public Health recommends these foods the most:

grease:Wheat germ oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil and soybean oil
Nut seeds:Almonds, peanuts (including peanut butter), pistachios, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds
vegetable:Spinach, pumpkin, broccoli, red bell peppers, asparagus, beet greens, kale
fruit:Mango, avocado (avocado)

2. Take vitamin E supplements reasonably

There is currently no evidence that vitamin E supplements have toxicity or side effects, but this does not mean that we can eat it casually. Taking too much vitamin E may weaken the coagulation of blood and cause bleeding, especially when people are using anticoagulants.

The Harvard School of Public Health recommends that adults over the age of 19 take up to 1,000 mg (1465 IU) of vitamin E per day through supplements.

In addition, the vitamin E group actually contains 4 kinds of “tocopherol” (tocopherol) and 4 kinds of “tocotrienol” (tocotrienol). Normal vitamin E supplements only contain alpha tocopherol, because this is currently the only form of vitamin E that can be used by the body.

When buying this vitamin E supplement, make sure it is extracted naturally, not petrochemically. Because natural nutrients are more easily absorbed by the body.

The packaging of natural alpha tocopherol has the words “D-alpha tocopherol”. The synthetic vitamin E extracted from petrochemicals has “Dl-alpha tocopherol” on the package. There is only one letter difference between the two medicines, but the quality is very different.

In addition, although the evidence is not enough, there are also observational experiments that show that other types of vitamin E may also have multiple health benefits. Therefore, synthetic tocopherols and tocotrienol supplements that are naturally extracted are also available on the market.
