Vladimir Putin goes to Kim Jong-un to North Korea

NThe ruler Kim Jong-un has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to North Korea after the meeting in Vladivostok. This was reported by the state-owned North Korean news agency KCNA on Friday. Accordingly, Putin accepted the invitation. A specific date was not mentioned.

According to KCNA, at the meeting in Vladivostok Kim underscored the United States' special importance for peace and security on the Korean peninsula. The situation there is at a critical point. Kim accused Washington of acting dishonest at his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump. The February summit in Hanoi had been broken off without result. A first meeting between the two had taken place in Singapore in June.

In mid-April, Kim had openly shown up for a third meeting with Trump. The condition is, however, that the Americans take part with the right attitude. He would wait until the end of the year if the United States was willing to change course and be more flexible, Kim said at the time.

Even now, after his meeting with Putin, no breakthrough is apparent. Washington calls for nuclear disarmament and a halt to the North Korean missile program. The largely isolated country wants a relaxation of sanctions.
