Volvo’s full line of electric car series will no longer provide leather inner cage options-Hong Kong unwire.hk

Many people think that the use of electric vehicles is an environmentally friendly measure, but the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo has decided to take one step further. It has been announced that the full range of electric vehicles will no longer provide the option of leather inner cages. Volvo said it would use Nordico as the main alternative material, followed by wool blends.

Leather comes from cattle, but raising livestock is one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Volvo hopes to stop using leather to achieve environmental protection. As for Nordico, which is used to replace leather, it is made of recycled PET plastic bottles and cork stoppers, mixed with the biological properties of the Nordic forests. Volvo emphasized that Nordico is the new standard for the car factory’s advanced inner cage design and will be applied to the next generation of electric vehicles, including the C40 electric SUV.

In addition to Nordico materials, Volvo will also provide traditional wool blended inner cage options. They specifically mentioned that the wool used is from a supplier that has obtained certification for animal welfare. Volvo also revealed that it will continue to develop more different materials to replace the current imitation leather materials used in the cabin and seats.
