Wayanad Literature Festival gets off to a great start on online platforms; Inauguration with dignitaries

Kochi: The official inauguration of the first website of the Wayanad Literature Festival (WLF) to be held at Dwaraka near Mananthavadi was held in the last week of December by Kerala Sahitya Akademi president and renowned poet K. Sachidanandan performed.

Satchidanandan described the festival coming to Wayanad, the land of pepper and snow, as the literary festival Wayanad has been waiting for. ‘It is sad that a place so rich in oral literature, especially with a life expressed through a great writer like Professor Vatsala, has not yet had a good literary festival. WLF fills that gap,’ said Satchidanandan while launching the website.

‘The soaring beak is a symbol,’ continued Satchidanandan, referring to the WLF logo. ‘WLF can constantly appear over the sky of Indian and world literature,’ added Satchidanandan.

The DLF Twitter page was officially launched by storyteller Tirunelli P. Vatsala. Wayanad is a very dear country. The fruit of the memories that the area gave me was the novel ‘Nell’. It is very nice to have a literature festival coming there. My mind is now after this festival,’ P. Vatsala said.

The Wayanad Literature Festival Facebook page was launched by Mithun Manuel Thomas, a famous young film director and a native of Wayanad.

Wayanad has never seen a literary festival organized in such a grand manner. My hope is that WLF will become a notable festival that will put Wayanad on the literary and historical map. Let the Wayanad Literature Festival become a festival like the Vallioorkavutsavam, which is taken by the people of Wayanad,’ said Mithun Manuel, enthusiastically welcoming the arrival of the literature festival in his own country.

WALF WhatsApp groups were established by the famous writer and novelist KR Performed by Meera. ‘For the first time in its history, Wayanad is becoming the venue for a major literary festival. The Wayanad Literature Festival is notable for being organized for the first time in India by the Panchayat Sahitya Festival. Good luck for the first season of WLF,’ Meera said.

‘Wayne’s long-held wish is to make WL F possible. W.AL is a bridge that connects the hearts of literary lovers inside and outside Wayanad. F,’ Festival Director and Executive Editor of Caravan Magazine Dr. Vinod K. Jose says.
